Valentine's meet Feb 14-15

Our first chance to show off those new MOO suits is rapidly approaching.  The meet is Saturday and Sunday at the long center in Clearwater and it is SCY.  For meet information click here. Your entry is due Friday Feb 6.  Please vote on the right so we have an idea how many people are going.  There are individual high points, you must enter 5 events.  Please see Bruce or Sean with any questions.

Arkansas swimmers

Greetings from the icy midwest!  I hope everyone is doing well.  Just wanted to say hello, and tell you I found a team.  We did the 1 hour postal swim last Saturday, and surprise, I took photos.  Click here to take a look.  The only problem with the team is they practice at 5:45 am! I miss you guys, and our evening practice time... come visit soon!

New Years Updates

As the new year begins, I wanted to share with you some information about upcoming meets, what's new with the team and finally, a little housekeeping.

In spite of the holidays, a large number of you were able to attend practice, and more importantly, our Holiday Party! But, now that we're into 2009, I wanted to share some information about a couple of meets you might want to attend.

MEETS AND MASTERS REGISTRATION:
February 14-15th, there's the SUN Masters Annual Valentine's Meet in Clearwater. You can find detailed meet information at: http://www.dixiezone.org/Meets/0902clearwater.pdf
Entries must be received by Feb. 6th.
You can swim one day or both days. Do whatever works into your schedule.

March 27-29th is the St. Pete Masters 39th Annual Short Course Championships held at the North Shore Pool in St. Pete. More detailed information can be found at:

Entries must be postmarked by Mar. 17th.

April 16-19th are the YMCA Short Course Nationals. This year they are again being held in Ft. Lauderdale. Detailed meet information is not yet available, so just save the date. For this particular meet, you only have to be a current Y member to participate.

Looking forward to 2010...

USMS Short Course Nationals will be in Atlanta (May 20-23) and Long Course Nationals will be in San Juan (Aug. 9-12).

Practice during the winter is outdoors in the heated pool on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday night from 7:00pm until 8:15pm. Everyone has a busy schedule and it's understandable when you're not able to practice for weeks on end, so come out and swim when you can.

Happy New Year!!!

Join us on January 1st for a morning swim across the lake. Luckyslakeswim.com 7:45am. Diane and Kathleen will be swimming without wet suits. Diane is going to earn her 25 crossings swim cap tomorrow. It's a great way to ring in the new year!!! If it's your 1st time, you can sign the wall, and as always the hot tub will be on.
Friday night, come over to park central to wish Diane and Greg a good trip to Arkansas. If you have any questions please e-mail diane 7pm- last call.

Practice Monday Night – 29 Dec 08, Bruce will be out, but meet at 7pm on the deck, below is our workout.
Tuesday will be practice as usual. Thursday the Y will be closed, but anyone who wants to join us, we are swimming at Lucky's lake 7:45am Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is Diane and Greg's going away party at Park Central starting at 7:00pm. Please RSVP so we can get you on the guest list at the gate.

Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful holiday. Just a reminder there will be no practice on Thursday because the Y is closed for Christmas. We did have lots of swimmers for practice last night though.
The new suits are in and are pretty cool. Talk to Sean to get yours. The swim caps are also in and are $5 each or $15 for 4. You can also see Sean for the caps. If you missed out on the suit order you can still get one on line.

MOO Holidays

We had one of our biggest crowds ever for a holiday party, with tons of food and lots of fun. The photos will be up later this weekend. Bruce got a stopwatch and gift card from the team. Diane was given a towel as one of the outgoing team captains, and then her and Alison nominated Sean and Teresa to be our new team captains. The gift exchange was hilarious as always, and I'm not sure who ended up with the Snoopy snow cone machine in the end. Tom was the biggest winner of the evening, and one of the gifts that never got opened was an i-pod. It just goes to show you can't judge a gift by the package.
Thanks again to John and Amy for having us over. I hope you got to get some sleep eventually!!!

And it's not any old ordinary get together - we're having a White Elephant gift exchange. Don't spend any money on a gift, cause it's regift time! Sick of that old vacuum cleaner?...wrap it up and bring it with you! Not using the VCR anymore?...this is the place to unload it! Need a new set of pots?...make room for them by getting rid of your old ones!

Still want to spend some money? Blow it on food, because if your last name ends in A-M, you can bring a side dish or salad, and if you last name ends in N-Z, please bring a desert. Bruce will provide the main dish.

And, oh yeah...don't forget to bring your someone special with you...unless you're embarrassed about our behavior! Tomorrow night at Johns house 7pm. Be there...

In case you have not heard, MOO's very own Greg has brought home another Emmy! Yup, now this uber talented Producer has two, one for each hand!

The temperature is dropping, but the swimmers keep coming.  We had a great turnout Monday and Tuesday, even got warm towels as we got out last night.  Don't forget the annual holiday party is Thursday the 18th in Leu of practice...
