Winning weekend for MOO

Great job Sean and Ryan at the Crystal River Twilight Triathlon! Sean placed 5th overall (2nd in age group) and Ryan placed 4th in her age group. Great job Moo swimmers: Colin, John, Mark B, Tom, Gil, Steve, SeanII, Erin and Diane.  In the end Colin and John tied for high point.  Erin and Diane also won high point in their age groups and swam both the 800 and 400 free.  Don't forget to ask Mark about his first masters event the 900M free. Sean II also swam his first Masters meet.   We had some great relays and made John swim the 100 fly at least 3 times.  We had a great weekend, enjoyed some BBQ, and earned lots of team points, results and more photos still to come.  Bruce has everyones ribbons and will bring them to the pool!

Cocoa beach Saturday

The Cocoa beach meet is going well so far.  We had 3 swimmers compete in the 800 free, which took most of the morning.  Today we had 8 swimmers in all, and the men's 400 free relay had no competition, and easily sailed to first place, even though Mark B. led and had just jumped out from his 800 free.  Colin and John are competing to see who can take the high point award for their age group. A few of us headed to the beach for Tacos for lunch. If you are free tomorrow, join us on the Brevard CC campus at 9am, for lots more fun! 

Good practice

We had a great practice with lots of 200's and 300's this evening.  About 16 swimmers, many gearing up for the meet this weekend.  The practice even ended with a 100IM race between Teresa and Tom.  Hope everyone can make it to Cocoa Beach this weekend to cheer on MOO.  Warmup starts at 8:00am and the meet begins at 9:00.

Raindrops keep falling on my head

It was a rainy week in Orlando, but we still managed to get some swimming in.  I have been fighting a cold and missed practice early this week, but managed to swim on Thursday.  There were about 15 swimmers and Bruce left us a good workout with lots of long stuff.  He was off visiting Family for his Birthday weekend in NJ.  Welcome back Kathleen.  Lots of us have upcoming vacations, but hopefully we will meet to swim at the pool in between.  The Cocoa Beach meet is next weekend.  I will let everyone know when the heat sheets are up on line.  And if anyone wants to carpool we can talk about it this week on deck! And of course who has a tent to bring, and take some new photos for the blog. Alison and Mark are getting Settled in their new home in Kentucky.  It has been cool enough to open the windows at night!

We had a nice practice this morning at the Aquatic Center.  Colin and John worked on relay starts, while Sean II, Mark and Diane timed some long swims including the 800.  Bruce and Greg helped us with our starts.  

Sunday Noon Practice on I-drive

We will be meeting for a casual practice Sunday at noon at the Aquatic center.  It is set up long course so we can practice starts for the Cocoa Beach meet and get some times if anyone still needs them.  BYOT Bring your own towel. Just a reminder, the entry needs to be postmarked by Tuesday.

Buh Bye!

Last night was our last night swimming with MOO- it was bittersweet to climb out of the highly chlorinated water of the Y one last time. I came to MOO right after Hurricane Charlie and I have really enjoyed getting to know all of you over the past couple years. Mark started swimming with MOO about a year later and although he came in as a rookie at swimming, he loves swimming almost as much as I do now. We will miss you all as we head north to the Boondocks of Kentucky- I am pretty certain there will not be a team as awesome as you all up there. Thanks for being our workout buddies and keep in touch! We wish you all the best in all life has to offer.

Cow Appreciation Day

Tomorrow, Friday July 11th, is the day your MOO cow gear pays off.  If you go to Chick Fil-A in your cow gear you get free chicken.  Anything a free sandwich.  A full outfit a combo meal!  So wear your MOO shirts and hats, see you there!

Holiday weekend

Happy Early Birthday to Bruce!  If you haven't already wished Mark and Alison good luck with the move, they will be at the pool Monday and probably Tuesday. Thanks everyone for bringing all the goodies. We had a great grill out, some drinks, games, a trip to the pool and a few people even hung around and ordered Pizza and watched the olympic trials.

Don't forget the deadline for the Cocoa Beach meet is July 16th, if you haven't already mailed your entry, now is the time.

Weekend swim meet and triathlon

Despite the bad weather we had 18 swimmers in the outdoor pool tonight.  The pool opened up from lightning just as practice started and then only a few showers.  We have 2 big events going on this weekend:

Swim Orlando (Erin's my club team) is hosting a meet this weekend. If you would like to help, I would appreciate it!
Vanessa will be swimming in the meet also!!
So far, Teresa has signed up for Saturday and Sunday night - and she needs a lane partner! You would be able to time with whomever you want.
Friday 7:30am -- 12:30pm
1:00pm -- 4pm (really desperate at this time slot)
5:30 -- 8pm

Saturday 7:30am -- 12 or 1:30 (there is a session on 400s)
12 or 1:30 again -- 5:15
5:30pm -- 8:40pm

Sunday 7:30am -- 11:15 or 2 (session of 1500s)
11 or 2 -- 5pm
5:30 -- 7:45pm

Triathalon
For those of you who've been kicking around multi-sport:

This sunday (6/29) there's a "sprint" triathalon - (by sprint they mean short distance)- at Baldwin Park
One of the events included is an "Aqua-bike" (so just the swim and the bike, no run)

Duathlon - Run 5 km - Bike 13.4 mi - Run 2.5 miles

Tuesday Thundershowers...

Well the lightning was raining down around us at about 6:30pm, but we were able to get in the pool and have practice about 7:20 or so. A few people had headed up to Heather's spin class. 10 swimmers in all enjoyed a shortened workout. We will bring a workout on Thursday, and Bruce will be back next week on Monday. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday there are still lots of timer spots open for the kids meet at the Aquatic center if anyone is interested please talk to Erin Crabtree. Flip Flop day

Free smoothies were had by all at the downtown Y this morning. Many MOO swimmers were spotted at the pool: Colin, Alison, Steve, Gill, Virginia Tech Mark, Vik, Diane, and Stacey. We had a nice swim.
Spotted at the lake this weekend were Sean, John, Ryan and Kathleen.

Saturday pick up practice 11am downtown

Tomorrow is flip-flop day at the Y.  Free smoothies to people wearing flip flops!
We will be having a fun practice Saturday 11am, bring your own workout.  We had a huge crowd last night of more than 21 swimmers.  We were just getting into the practice when there was a clap of thunder and pouring rain.  I heard what I thought was a team "moo", but turned out to be a group "Boo".  About 20 minutes later a few swimmers returned to the pool and goofed off a bit.
