What to bring:
Everyone should bring a little something - for the White Elephant Gift Exchange-price limit- $10. Past items include: dashboard hula girls, lotto tickets, and many other trinkets and treasures.
If your last name starts with A-L please bring a side dish/ salad.
If you are M-Z- Please bring a desert or other tasty treat.

Holiday Party update
Greetings!
The air temp is dropping, the heaters are cranking at the pool and the holidays will soon be upon us. For those of you new to MOO, each December we have a Holiday Party complete with a White Elephant Gift Exchange, food and merriment. Previously this has been held at swimmers' homes and last year, a restaurant. The question now is when- thanks to those of you who have already offered up your abodes! In the past we have met on the weekends and on a weeknight in place of practice.
So, the question is, what works best for all of you- weekend or weeknight. Let us know so we can get this set in stone.

Oct27 Rollins college meet
We have been invited to swim with Team Orlando at the meet if you are interested please e-mail the coach listed below!!!
On Oct. 27 Rollins College is hosting their annual swim meet vs Orlando area Masters.(anyone 18 and older). This is a high school format swim meet. Warm up begins at 12 noon and the meet starts at 1 pm. All pool and open water swimmers are encouraged to participate. The meet usually lasts till 2:30 pm and then we go out for a late lunch following. The order of events are as follows:
200 yd medley relay
200 free
50 free
200 IM
100 fly
10 min. break
100 free
100 back
500 free
100 breast
200 free relay
WOMEN PRECEDE THE MEN EVENTS!
You can swim 3 events including relays! Only 3 people per event and 3 relay teams allowed so sign up early to hold your spot!
Please email me as soon as possible as to the events you would like to swim.(cswimming@aol.com) A sign up sheet is also posted at the Aquatic Center.

World Record Swim
Congratulations swimmers on completing two new World Records: Yuko's 82 k lake swim and the 100k Relay. Unofficial certificates signed by Lucky are available at the lake and official certificates will be available after the records are certified.
What a fun weekend. So many stories. Thanks again to all of our volunteers, friends, and brave swimmers who entered the food chain. The relay was well represented by a mix of women and men. The oldest was 76 and the youngest was 9. Only two known mishaps. One fully clothed swimmer fell off the dock, and one swimmer got sick in the garbage can. No monsters or gators spotted. Amazingly, after her record, a little sleep and a meal of sushi and ice cream, Yuko swam with Jake and Lucky for the last lap of the relay swim.

This year the relay was about setting the distance record. Next time it will be about a speed record. Maybe men vs women, or two teams racing. Any ideas?

11:30PM World Record update Oct 13th
At 11:25 PM and nearly 30 hours of non stop swimming, Yuko has broken the World Record with 81K and now doing a final lap to make it 82 . The relay continues on thru the night.
We still have 2 more MOO swimmers crossing the lake tomorrow, come out and cheer them on!

Record Breaking Swim Rules-from Chris Bolfing
Hi Swimmers, The relay looks like it is a go so far! I'm working on a schedule this week. Since this is a new swim, I think there will be a bit of a learning curve, so work with me.
Unlike many swims, this relay will be a team effort. With this team effort, once a commitment is made to the schedule, we will need you to make the swim. Swimmers will be scheduled for four hour blocks. The first shift will start with Yuko swimming the first two k of her record attempt. You will be able to swim two k or one k twice with a break between swimmers.
The shifts start Friday, October 12th at 6pm. The first shift is 6-10pm, then 10pm to 2am, etc. Based on swimmers completing each k in a little less than a half hour, I hope to finish Sunday by 6pm. No need to swim fast this year, since Lucky would like to be able to break this record in the future.
Lucky and Chris Bolfing will be flex swimmers to fill in if a swimmer is late or our time estimate is a little off. We plan on having a guide boat and a kayak for safety. Plan on helping with guiding and cheering your friends while they swim on their way to a World Record. Night swimmers will also have lighted buoys to help navigate. Rules so far include no wetsuits, snorkels, or fins. Goggles, swim caps, and swimsuits are ok. Swimmers over age sixteen welcome. Younger swimmers need prior approval and an escort. Each swimmer should have had at least one lake crossing to prequalify for the relay.
Swimmers, friends, and family are welcome to join us for volunteering and for the pre and post festivities. Many of the slots are filled, so please let me know what times you would like to swim. Nights are the most available. My cell is (281)788-6840. Sorry about the Houston number, but that is where headquarters is located and I'm often out of town. Lastly, please try to raise at least $20 per swimmer for the Learn to Swim Program.
