Pick Up practice
Due to yesterdays storm practice was canceled. We will have a pick up practice TODAY at 6pm at the Downtown Pool.
Summer Update
Team,
Just a quick note to remind you of a couple things.
On Saturday, August 28th, we’ll be heading up to Ginnie Springs for our 2nd Annual Tube Float Trip. This is a great time to relax in the cool waters of the Santa Fe River and maybe if we’re lucky, we’ll see a MOO Mom jump from a rope swing into the water! The cost is $12 per person for admission into the park. If you need to rent a tube (you can definitely bring your own!), the cost is $6 for the entire day.
-Meet at the Y at 7:00am (we’ll be leaving right at 7:15am)
-If you can drive, please let us know as well – we’ll carpool (riders will pay for gas)
-Bring your own lunch and beverage as we will not be stopping on the way
-We should be back at the Y by 6:30pm (there may be a car going back earlier if there’s a need, but no guarantees)
-Please let Teresa or myself know if you can attend by Thursday, August 26th

MOO Practices/Meets – Attendance this summer has been good, but for those that are looking for some competitions, there are a couple events on the horizon. Ocala Masters will be hosting a one-day SCY meet (yes, yards!) on Sept. 25 and on Oct. 16-17, the Aquatic Center will be hosting a SCM meet again. For those coming to practice, you will notice that the emphasis is on strokes and continuing over the next few weeks, time will be taken to work on drills – learning new ones and working on old ones. This is a great opportunity as there isn’t as much time to spend on drills while we’re ramping up the workouts during meet season.
Quick Reminder – When entering the pool for practice, there may be some other members in the lane doing laps. They are not used to swimming with another person anywhere near them. Please take a moment to let them know that you are going to join them to do a warm-up as Masters practice is beginning. Please do not run over them or muscle them out of the way. I will do my best to speak with each one to see if they want to join us or if space is available, move to an outside lane

XMAS in July Party!
Its time for to celebrate X-mas in July again. Team social get together at Schrantz' house on Sunday July 25th from noon-4pm. As the MOO X-mas tradition we will do the white elephant gift exchange so bring that special item you wish to get rid of. The party is BYOB and food items to share. See you all there!

St Pete LCM Championship results
Great Swims team! We had a good turn out of swimmers for the St Pete LCM Championships. The most asked question for the weekend was 'were is the wall?' after a while we all swam all the way to the end. For results click here.

Team BBQ & Pool Party
Saturday June 26th at 3pm we are having a Team BBQ & Pool Party at the Paramount Pool & gathering area. Team will provide Meat & Buns for grilling. This party is BYOB. (lets avoid glass containers) We encourage guest to bring their significant other, friends & family. We will need to provide the building security a full guest list. If you are planning to go, please RSVP by email or on the facebook event page.
We will ask everyone attending to give a donation of $5-$10 to cover the Paramount's non-reimbursable rental fee, Meat & Buns for the grilling. You can give your donations to Teresa or Bruce. You are welcomed to bring side & deserts to share as we have done in other group functions. Spread the word around and encourage your fellow team members to join.

Summer news
Lets encourage each other to come out for practice this summer. Whether you’re going to USMS Long Course Nationals in Puerto Rico or not, you should be coming to practice.
Last weekend, Kathleen represented MOO at the Bumpy Jones Classic in Sarasota and swam many lifetime bests. We are planning to attend St. Pete Meet in July. Keep in mind that that meet is the weekend of July 10-11 and that entries need to be postmarked by July 1st. That’s only two weeks away!
Closer on the horizon is the MOO BBQ & Pool Party at the Paramount in Downtown Orlando. You will need to sign up for this one, so let Teresa, Maria or myself know that you are coming. And, remember, it’s a pool party. Please be prepared to get wet – bathing suit or not.

Hurricane Man Results
Moo team showed some courage on Saturday during the Hurricane Man & Pass a grille Open water challenge. The ocean was a little rough and wild life was spoted by swimmers through the race. Congratulations to Sean McCormack for winning the 2.4 overall for the mens. See Results. In the 1K swim Teresa Szakos took 1st place in her age group. Bruce took 2nd in his age group. In the 2k Ryan Hill rook 4th in her age group, Kathleen took 3rd in her age group, Mark Fedorchak took 2nd and Arni took 3rd in their age group. Sean McCormack took 1st place in the race with a time of 48:06. Sean McClean took 12th and Steve Laugen took 13th out of 22 in their age group. Great Job MOO!!!

YMCA song
Some MOO swimmers showed their choreography skills Saturday Morning during the Village People YMCA song. Great team spirit was shown by John Schrantz as the construction worker, Sean McCormack as the Indian, Aaron and Sean McClean as the cowboys, and Steve as the sailor/ ring leader. John Jackson made an appearance as the young man recruited to the YMCA, while the MOO Moms joined in for the dancing on deck.

Dixie Zone Results
